Nissan considering Leaf electric car for India: Report

th SUVs and hatchbacks selling like hot cakes, not many automakers have felt the need to bring in electric cars they offer elsewhere. That may change with Nissanreportedly considering Leaf - its much acclaimed and highly appreciated electric car - for India.

According to a media report, the Japanese automaker plans to work with government agencies and private sector companies this year to study if there is a viable market for electric vehicles in the country. A company official has also been quoted as saying that the "Nissan Leaf will be part of the pilot project."

Buoyed by the success of the Innova Crysta, Toyota India is now going to introduce a new, special edition of this premium MPV in the Indian car market. Christened as the Innova Crysta Touring Sport, the same is to arrive in our country during the first week of May this year.
Taking a stock of what all that is going to be new with the Innova Crysta Touring sport, all things considered, this special edition is going to be a strict cosmetic only update. Based on the top of the line Innova Crysta, the Touring Sport will feature a special wine-red exterior body colour.
Other updates are to include extensive use of chome highlights on the exterior profile of the  MPV. Also included in the mix is to be black plastic claddings, on the front and rear bumpers, side skirts among the other to provide it with a sport touch. The rest of the design specifics of the Touring Sport edition remains similar to that of the standard version.
Stepping inside the cabin, the Innova Crysta Touring Sport is to feature the exact same layout as that of the standard Innova. As far the engine specifications are concerned, the Crysta Touring Sport will continue to come with the same diesel and petrol derivative. The former being propelled by 2.7-litre motor with the latter taking the 2.8-litre or the 2.4-litre oil-burners. The transmission responsibilities will be taken care of by a both manual as well as automatic gearboxes.
Talking about the prices, the Innova Crysta Touring Sport will be upward of about INR 50,000 to 60,000 of the prices of the top of the line ZX trim which currently costs INR 19,62,300 for the petrol and 20,77,930 (AT) (ex-showroom, Delhi) for the diesel to own

MUMBAI | NEW DELHI: Thanks to Brexit, supercars made in the UK have just become lighter on the pocket. Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Range Rover and Ferrari have cut prices in India by Rs 20 lakh to more than Rs 1 crore, passing on the benefits from the pound sterling’s dive post Britain’s decision last year to exit the European Union. 

The pound has dropped about 20% against the rupee in less than a year, making exports to India cheaper for UK-based manufactures and companies that bill India sales in the British currency, such as Italy’s Ferrari. They cut prices by 5% to 15%, hoping to attract more buyers for their marquees in a country that is home to the third most number of billionaires.

India bans use of red beacon lights on cars

India will ban ministers and senior officials from using red beacons on their cars to speed through traffic.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said "no vehicle will have a red light" from 1 May, and "there will no exceptions".
Under the new rule, only emergency vehicles, ambulances, fire engines and police cars can use flashing blue lights.
Critics say VIPs often use red beacons as a status symbol, leading to traffic chaos for commuters.
Status-conscious politicians and government officials are also accused of using the beacons to bypass the gridlocked city traffic on official business and show off their importance.
Mr Jaitley said the government was "removing the rule which allows state and central government to specify who can use the red lights".
Correspondents say the government's move comes as a blow to India's fabled "VIP culture" that privileges politicians and officials above ordinary citizens.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to twitter to respond to messages from his followers about his government's decision.
